MULLUM MULLUM CREEK TRAIL & RESERVE

Mullum Mullum Creek Trail and Reserve, Ringwood20180611_162506

The Mullum Mullum trail runs through Ringwood for approximately 5.5km. The 2.2km stretch from Oliver Street to Oban Road is mostly flat so is an easy stroll for those whose fitness levels are still a work in progress. Parking is available next to the sporting facilities or you can park on the street at either end of the trail.
The trail is on leash only and one side of the trail is bike free from Mullum Mullum Reserve to Oban Rd. There are three bridges which cross to each side of the trail. If you have dogs that don’t cope well with obstacles then you can walk on the trail side closest to the ovals.

The reserve has two large, off leash ovals which are fenced but not fully enclosed. The oval closest to the playground is mostly enclosed, there is only one small section that is open.
There are toilets but they are usually locked unless there are sporting activities on. There are plenty of bins provided but no dog waste bags. There is one water fountain with a dog bowl.
One thing I have found with the lower oval is that it can be difficult to see when other dogs are approaching. If you have a dog you prefer to let off lead when the park is empty, then the upper oval is a better option.

The Leaf & Vine Café
For those wanting a coffee break venture 500m off the trail up to Leaf and Vine Café in Panfield Ave. There is a semi-covered outdoor seating area which generally have a couple umbrellas up. There is usually a water bowl provided for dogs. It is occasionally difficult to get a seat, mainly during school drop-off and pick-up times as it’s located a few doors down from a school. My family and I are regulars at this café and the food and drinks are consistently good.
Today I ordered a green tea and a blt, I asked to add an egg and minus the onion, which they were happy to do. The blt was huge and I ate more of it than I should have. The staff are always friendly and attentive. Meal prices are about average for café’s in the area. My only wish is that they would bring back their amazing pork belly burger which they haven’t had on the menu for quite a while.
